American Heart Association and Nature Rocks Partner to Empower Families to Get Outdoors and Get Active a Life

Nature Rocks, a national program created to inspire and empower parents to take their families to play, explore and enjoy quality time in nature, announced a collaboration with the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative. Families are challenged to take the "60 miles in 60 days" walking pledge.

The more Americans engage in one of their favorite pastimes -- sitting around -- the shorter their average life span, a new study suggests.

Walking Associated with Lower Stroke Risk in Women

Women who walked two or more hours a week or who usually walked at a brisk pace (3 miles per hour or faster) had a significantly lower risk of stroke than women who didn’t walk, according to a large, long-term study reported in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association.
